Hapman to Present Innovation Brief on Tubular Drag Technology at PTXi/PBSWendy Roby, Product Manager with Hapman, will present an Innovation Brief entitled “Tubular Drag: One Conveyor Does It All” from 11:45 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the 2010 International Powder & Bulk Solids show (PTXi/PBS). Roby’s presentation will include a detailed overview of the theory and operation of tubular drag conveyors as well as the spectrum of features and benefits they offer. The presentation will benefit anyone responsible for moving powder and bulk solids. “Engineering conveying systems for today’s processing plants requires far more than just moving product from one point in the plant to another,” says Roby. “For example, engineers must consider plant and worker safety through assessing how the process affects the environment as well as how the process affects the material being conveyed. And with the increased cost of materials and processing, it has never been more important to ensure materials at all stages of processing are protected as they are conveyed, as well as stay within the process.” Roby continues, “Because they meet the stringent demands of the food, chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical and other general industries, it’s no surprise enclosed conveying systems are becoming an increasingly popular choice. As an added benefit, the tubular drag conveyor is easily engineered into existing processes where confined spaces may otherwise be an issue.” Roby holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University. In addition, she has more than four years of practical experience working as an engineer for a consulting firm to the automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, package handling, health care, steel manufacturing and other industries. In her four years tenure with Hapman, Roby has played an integral part in overseeing the design and manufacture of more than 100 tubular drag conveyor installations in diverse applications ranging from mining operations to snack foods and plastics and chemicals. PTXi/PBS will be held May 4-6 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Hapman is a leader in powder and bulk handling equipment and systems for food, chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics and other industrial processors. The Michigan-based manufacturer has more than 10,000 global installations conveying more than 2,600 distinct materials.
